These large retread plants offer high quality and low unit costs that the large fleets demand. However the drive to specialize in retreading for large fleets has come at a cost: the loss of flexibility to handle unusual size and type tires and the ability to handle the variety of tires that is required by independent tire dealers and specialty end users.
